On the 2nd May Philippe Bender, the conductor of the symphony orchestra of the Balearic Islands (OSB), will leave his baton in its case and give a German flute concert instead. In Son Bauló in Lloret de Vistalegre he will give impressions of Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. Also, there will be the duo Bleuse, consisting of the solo-cellist of the OSB Emmanuel Bleuse, the pianist Miriam Picker, violinist Andrei Melkoumov and Sonia Krasnova at the viola. Bender worked with the greatest classical musicians of our time, among others as an assistant of Leonard Bernstein and Pierre Boulez. He worked for the philharmonic orchestra in New York and won several notable awards, such as the Victoire d´Honneur. Mallorca will have to bid farewell to this remarkable musician since he will leave the OSB. In France the next competition is awaiting. He will amalgamate the orchestras of Cannes and Nice. Bender will give his last concert in Mallorca in July as a conductor of the festival of the OSB in the castle Bellver.
