On Monday the FC Barcelona had their deserved 4-1 Copa del Rey victory against Athletic Bilbao and their first piece of silverware since 2006 after three goals in a devastating nine-minute spell at the start of the second half. But already this weekend Real Mallorca spoiled the new championship celebrations of the Catalans by beating them 2-1. An early lead for the FC Barcelona with Eto´os 29th goal of the campaign was followed by quick strikes from Juan Arango and Cleber Santana, which sealed the fight back for mid-table Mallorca in the second half. In the final minute Eto´o had a chance to level from the spot but struck his penalty against the base of the post. FC Barcelona’s coach Pep Guardiola sent out a number of youth player’s at the Ono Estadi in Palma de Mallorca, with his focus turning to the Champions League final against Manchester United in Rome on May 27. At a news conference Guardiola said, “I don’t want to risk anything”, that’s why many players won’t play until the final in Rome. The match was followed by celebrations throughout Mallorca.
