22-year old Rafel Nadal, who was born in Mallorca, won his Grand-Slam tournament yesterday evening in Paris against Russian tennis player Teimuras Gabaschwili and set another record with his 30th straight win on clay at the French Open. The Spaniard looked his usual dominant self and won 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. On Monday Nadal won his first round match against Brazilian player Marcos Daniel 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. Nadal´s win bettered Bjorn Borg’s French Open record, who won 28 matches straight from 1987 to 1981. The Spaniard also equaled the overall tournament record, matching Chris Evert’s 29 straight wins during 1974-75 and 1979-81. The Balearic tourism minister Miguel Nadal now announced that they concluded an exclusive advertising contract with Rafael Nadal, who owns a property in Manacor. The Balearic government is planning to do marketing events and commercials with the Majorcan, which will be shown on big screens on the tennis court, aiming to attract more French tourists to the island.
